SAT PREP COURSE NOW OFFERED AT YALE!!

Yale Secondary is now offering a SAT prep course with certified Mathand English teachers.  More and more students are looking atpost-secondary options south of the border and have to write the SATas a part of the admission requirements.  Scoring well on the test canlead to thousands of dollars in academic scholarship money andentrance into top U.S. schools.  The prep course at Yale will run from4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Mondays, starting after Spring break.  In 8sessions, students will be prepped in the math, critical reading, andwriting portions of the exam.  Spaces are limited so register now forthis valuable opportunity.  The cost for all 8 sessions is $300.  Click here to see detailed descriptions of the sessions, dates and times, and to register.

In grade 8-11? Love Softball? Like to work hard and compete day in and day out? Have a desire to take your softball to the next level or get a college scholarship? Want to receive instruction from University, Professional and National team players as well as Dave Paetkau, Assistant Coach of the Team Canada Women's Softball team? Or just want to stay in softball shape in the off season? The Yale Secondary Softball Academy just might be the thing for you! We will be hosting an Open House for any softball players grades 8-11 at the Yale Gym Saturday January 28th from 1-3:30.  Parents can come along with the athletes to see what our program is all about as the girls go through a day at the Yale Softball Academy training session. There will also be a school tour and parent information session discussing things such as plans for next year, what we are all about, academic expectations, transportation and cross catchment enrollment and how your daughter can become a part of our academy.  The instructors will be there as well as the Academy directors to answer any questions you may have.  Please bring clean runners, water and your softball equipment. 2012 / 2013 APPLICATION PROCESS

1)  Returning Academy students are open to apply for next year starting Dec 1st (online applications)

 

2)  New students that are In-catchment are open to apply as of Jan 1st.   (paper applications)

 

3)  Cross boundary and Out of District applications are open Feb 1st.   (paper applications)

 

Application deadline is March 1st. 

 

We plan on advising students of acceptance or decline by March 9th. 

 

Fees will be due May 1st. 

 

We will look at catchment applications first and will follow the following Selection Criteria:

 

1)  Grades (B average criteria) (IEP's are exempt; however, documentation of IEP and written recommendation from support Teachers may be required)

2)  Behaviour (Principal recommendation)

3)  Softball Skill

Southern Utah University's Tessa Loewen has been selected to represent Canada as a member of the junior national team when the team competes at the Junior Women's World Championships in Cape Town, South Africa in December. Loewen is a three-year member of the team and one of only six players selected to the national squad for three consecutive years...more

Yale Softball Academy's own Tessa Loewen has been inducted into the Abbotsford Sport Wall of Fame. Tessa competed on the Women's U17 and U18 National Team and has received a full ride scholarship to Southern Utah University (NCAA Division #1.)  She has been a member of the Yale Softball Academy for the last 3 years.
